Prose and dance events

The new season at Rimini’s Teatro Galli promises a vibrant mix of theater and dance, with a program that gives a strong voice to female artists, offers intelligent and witty social commentary, and uses the stage as a space for deep reflection. The lineup is rich with diverse performances, bringing some of the most important and recent Italian productions to Rimini. The shows feature prominent directors like Antonio Latella and Martin McDonagh, and star celebrated Italian actors, including Ambra Angiolini, Daniele Pecci, and Vinicio Marchioni. The season also welcomes major companies like Teatro dell’Elfo and the Balletto di Roma.
The main program, divided into the A-B-C series, is composed of seven shows that alternate between different moods and time periods, offering audiences a journey through laughter, bittersweet smiles, and profound insights. Meanwhile, the "Other Paths" program, or the D series, provides a focused look at contemporary society. This section of the season is unified by themes such as female narratives, tyranny, censorship, and the rhetoric of modern life, offering a powerful perspective on today's world.
Beyond the main subscription, the theater offers an exciting list of special performances. A major highlight is the return of the smash hit musical "Saturday Night Fever" on February 18th and 19th, produced by the Compagnia della Rancia. Comedy fans can look forward to a new monologue by the popular Italian comedian Paolo Cevoli on October 28th and 29th, and lovers of classic operetta will enjoy the Compagnia Corrado Abbati's production of "Cin Cin Là" on December 8th.
The dance season also presents two highly anticipated events featuring renowned Italian companies. The Balletto di Roma will restage their work "La dernière danse?" on November 28th. Following this, on January 31st, the Compagnia Artemis Danza/Monica Casadei will perform their piece titled "Puccini’s Opera - Voci di donne", an evocative production inspired by the famous composer's female characters. Beyond this, there are four special events designed to support and showcase young local dancers, further strengthening the connection between the arts and the community.
"Theater No Limits": This special project is designed to make theater accessible for people with visual disabilities. It provides audio descriptions for three shows, allowing visually impaired audience members to fully appreciate costumes, movements, and other visual elements of the performance: RICHARD III (Friday 16 January 2026, 9:00 pm) – AMADEUS (Friday 13 March 2026, 9:00 pm)  – LETTERS TO BERNINI (Thursday 2 April 2026, 9:00 pm).
Youth and Family Theater: A special program for young audiences continues at the Teatro degli Atti. It includes a series of shows for schools and a family-focused initiative called "Sciroppo di Teatro", with three shows for children aged 3 to 11 (Sunday 25 January, 1 February, 1 March).

the dune on Rimini beach, between bathing establishments 1 and 63
Open-air collective exhibition curated by Mind Marea, in collaboration with Cooperativa Spiagge Rimini, Associazione Marea and Innamorarsi in Riviera

An exhibition that transforms the dune of the Rimini beach into a temporary observatory of the present, a place where languages intertwine like waves - photography, illustration, urban art, and visual writing - giving the public a constantly changing landscape, suspended between art and nature, between sky, land and sea. Each piece of work - image and text, totalling twenty display panels -is an ephemeral trace that questions the threshold between what emerges and what disappears, between memory and future, between the individual and the collective. A means to observe our time from its shifting frontiers, where the land ends and thought begins.

Orario:

Opening: on Sunday 16 November from 12.30pm

22 November 2025 - January 2026
Rimini beach between bathing establishments 1 and 63
The sand dune comes alive with 30 benches connected by lights and installations

Rimini beach is magic with ‘Un Mare d'Inverno’ (A Winter Sea), an initiative that transforms the coastline into a poetic landscape, where art, nature and light come together to showcase the beauty of the sea even in the quietest season.
The raised dune, erected to protect the coast during the winter season, comes alive with 30 benches and art installations, which become the heart of a widespread exhibition route. The art installations, part of the Mind Marea project, are placed along the dune and in the most evocative spots along the coastline, inviting visitors and citizens to stop, observe, listen and be inspired by the dialogue between art and the sea. Each bench offers a different perspective on the theme of the horizon, memory and movement, transforming the beach into an open-air museum.
From 22 November, a string of lights accompanies visitors along the dune, creating a luminous corridor that blends into the horizon. A picturesque route, to be enjoyed by day and by night, not only during the Christmas time, combining works of art and lights with the poetry of the sea into a single experience.
'Un Mare d'Inverno', curated by Piacere Spiaggia Rimini, is an invitation to experience the sea in every season: for a walk among art and nature, a moment of contemplation on the benches overlooking the sea or an opportunity for meeting and shared inspiration. Rimini once again presents itself as a city capable of combining creativity, culture and landscape, where the light of Christmas meets the depth of the sea and the sensitivity of those who live there.

13 December 2025 – 31 January 2026
Rimini, Augeo Art Space, Corso d'Augusto 217
Curated by Marco Bertozzi, for the Rimini '80 project

'Rimini' is a new project by the Reggio Emilia-born photographer Paolo Simonazzi. It forms part of the programme of events organised by the Municipality of Rimini to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the publication of the eponymous novel by the Correggio writer, Pier Vittorio Tondelli.
The work is built upon a foundation of literary, cinematic, musical, and – above all – autobiographical influences. Within these themes, the artist navigates a delicate balance between lightness and depth.
The photographs in Simonazzi’s latest project speak of the world, but also of a conceptualisation of it. Rimini is portrayed as a Frontier, a Sublime Door, a Mirage, a Promise, an Utopia. It is a kaleidoscope of eras and fashions where one finds oneself in two places simultaneously: the physical and the imaginary; caught between wonder and illusion, between the 'here' and the 'elsewhere'. Simonazzi documents the locations that draw him in, while simultaneously capturing within them novel perspectives, ironic moments, remnants of memory, and (auto)biographical signs.
These images speak of the world, but also of an idea of it—as if a subtle, personal layer, composed of lived experience, knowledge, and passion, has settled upon the very surface of the photograph.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 12pm / 4pm - 7pm

18 December - 25 January 2026
Palazzo del Fulgor, piazzetta San Martino - Rimini historic centre
Behind-the-scenes photographs from CliCiak at Palazzo del Fulgor

Italian cinema told from a special, ‘close-up’ perspective. Entitled “Dentro il set” (Inside the Set), this is the first photographic exhibition born from a collaboration between the Municipalities of Rimini and Cesena.
The exhibition is linked to “CliCiak – Scatti di Cinema”, the national competition for Italian set photographers promoted annually by the Cesena Administration, in partnership with the Malatestiana Library and the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena.
On display until Sunday 25 January are approximately 40 photographs from the latest edition of the competition, including the images that were prize-winners or specially commended by the jury.
These shots depict contemporary Italian cinema from a privileged vantage point: that of set photography, which is uniquely capable of conveying the reality of the work and the atmosphere of filming — actors in rehearsal, directors at work, crews in action, and the moments of waiting and intense concentration before a scene. This is more than just “behind the scenes”; set photography is an autonomous language that captures the construction of the cinematic image, creating a dialogue between reality and fiction.
Spanning black-and-white and colour, portraiture and action, the selection offers a rich and contemporary overview of Italian film and television series. The exhibition launches a wider project by the Municipality of Cesena to celebrate and promote “CliCiak”, which for years has collected and preserved a vast heritage of Italian cinematic set photography.

Exhibition dedicated to the vinyl soundtracks of Fellini’s films

On display are thirty original records – 33 and 45 rpm – from the private collection of historian Davide Bagnaresi. These include rare international editions that document the global reach of Fellini’s cinema: from La Strada and La Dolce Vita to , alongside items of particular interest such as the American pressing of The Clowns.
The exhibition focuses on the creative dialogue with Nino Rota and, in the later years, with Nicola Piovani. It also highlights the extraordinary graphic quality of the record sleeves, whose visual designs reflect the visionary nature of Fellini's cinematography.
Furthermore, the exhibition features two precious 78 rpm records from 1938–1939, containing songs composed and performed during those years: I cinque Baeki’s and La cavalcata dei cinque, both written by Odoardo Spadaro.
While there is no definitive proof that the "Fellini" mentioned in the credits of these two discs is indeed the future director, several clues make it plausible: both recordings were produced by Cetra, the label of the EIAR for which Fellini also worked. Moreover, the motif of I cinque Baeki’s reappears, with partially modified lyrics, in the famous Barafonda theatre sequence featuring the three gravediggers in the film Roma.
To mark Federico Fellini’s birthday, admission is free on 20th January.

Fellini Museum (Castel Sismondo e Palazzo del Fulgor) - Rimini historic centre
Rimini celebrates the Master's birthday: doors open at the Fellini Museum

To mark the anniversary of Federico Fellini’s birth on 20th January, Rimini pays tribute to the director with a diverse programme of initiatives promoted by the Fellini Museum. This celebration is designed as a journey through cinema, music, and archival imagery.
The heart of the celebrations will be on Tuesday, 20th January, featuring a special gift for residents and tourists alike: free admission to all Fellini Museum sites throughout the day. Additionally, at 2:00 pm, the Cinemino will host a screening of Ginger and Fred, just a few days short of the fortieth anniversary of the film's theatrical release.
From 20th January, the Palazzo del Fulgor will host the exhibition "The Music of Fellini", an evocative display celebrating the unbreakable bond between the director’s imagery and the scores of great composers such as Nino Rota and Nicola Piovani. On display are thirty original vinyl records from Davide Bagnaresi’s collection, including rare international editions of masterpieces and two precious 78s from the 1930s which may represent the very first artistic contributions of a young Fellini.
The programme continues on Saturday, 24th January, with the inauguration of the photography exhibition "The Magic of Fellini: Photographs by Deborah Beer". In collaboration with Cinemazero (Pordenone), the Palazzo del Fulgor will showcase rediscovered images by Deborah Beer from the Rimini Fellini Archive.
Ahead of the anniversary, the "Cuarón in Controcampo" series concludes on Saturday, 17th January. This showcase is dedicated to the Mexican director recently honoured with the Fellini Prize. The film Solo con tu pareja (Uno per tutte) will be screened at 9:00 pm at the Cineteca, preceded at 2:00 pm by Fellini’s at the Palazzo del Fulgor’s Cinemino. Both screenings offer free entry.
The schedule is complemented by the podcast "Fellini: Marginal Notes", produced by the Fellini Museum as part of the European REEL project (Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021–2027). These eighteen episodes explore Fellini's cinema from unique perspectives, following recurring themes and obsessions. Rather than a formal guide, it is a "constellation of notes" inviting us to view Fellini's films as living works. The podcast is available on all major platforms and the Fellini Museum website, where the audioguide created for the same European project is also available.

Photographs by Deborah Beer on Federico Fellini's cinema

The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Cinemazero (Pordenone),  will open on Saturday 24th January at 5:30 pm at the Palazzo del Fulgor and is accompanied by a catalogue featuring contributions by Marco Bertozzi and Andrea Crozzoli.
These images, rediscovered in the Rimini Fellini Archive, have resurfaced after a long silence and take on new meaning today thanks to the agreement between the Fellini Museum and Cinemazero.
The exhibition retraces the director’s final works, offering an intimate reflection on his cinema and artistic journey.
Organised into three sections – “Fellini, the Director”, “F for Faces”, and “M&M: Masina and Mastroianni” – the exhibition explores the sets of City of Women, And the Ship Sails On, and Ginger and Fred. It offers an insider’s perspective on Fellini’s final works, capturing the dialogue between invention, time, and a growing sense of farewell that would later find its explicit expression in Intervista

2025/26 Theatre and Dance Season - Dance

With this new creation by Monica Casadei, the Artemis Danza Company dedicates its artistic project to four fascinating heroines of composer Giacomo Puccini, on the centenary of his death: Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Mimì and Turandot.
In Puccini's Opera. Voci di donne (Voices of Women), we find Monica Casadei's personal interpretation of the theme of femininity at the centre of a process of choreographic, visual and musical reinterpretation. The protagonists are women who are as diverse as they are linked by a common thread of contemporary and timeless stories. Tragic love, thwarted and opposed love, cruel love that destroys, the desire for possession that leads to destruction: all this lives in the faces, bodies and gestures of the dancers and never ceases to make us reflect on the relevance of stories that have moved audiences around the world.
The result of Artemis Danza's research is a choral dance rich in impulses and passions, instinctive and at times wild, which makes whirlwind use of space and appears visually full: the solos are surrounded and protected by frames of ensembles, in a dynamic accelerated by propulsive forces that bring the drama and passions of the protagonists to life in the body and in the gut.
Puccini's orchestral score is accompanied by electronic tracks by Fabio Fiandrini for Bohème and Turandot and Luca Vianini for Butterfly and Tosca, creating an enveloping and at times apocalyptic soundscape.

Opera at Teatro Galli: the great Italian operatic tradition featuring Verdi, Puccini, and Donizetti, alongside a foray into 20th-century musical theatre

Macbeth, The Consul, Madama Butterfly, Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, and La traviata are the featured titles of the 2026 Opera Season at Rimini’s Teatro Galli. The programme journeys through the great operatic repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries, alternating Italian traditional masterpieces with a significant foray into the musical theatre of the last century.
The season opens on Friday 6 February 2026 (8:00 pm) – with a second performance on Sunday 8 February (3:30 pm) – with Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, one of the composer’s darkest and most powerful works, inspired by the Shakespearean tragedy.

2025/26 Theatre and Dance Season - out of subscription

Saturday Night Fever, the musical, produced by Compagnia della Rancia under licence from Broadway Licensing, is directed by Mauro Simone and inspired by the 1977 Paramount/RSO film and Nik Cohn's story exploring new trends in nightlife and the disco scene, adapted for the stage by Robert Stigwood in collaboration with Bill Oakes (North American version written by Sean Cercone and David Abbinanti), with the engaging soundtrack by the Bee Gees and arrangements and orchestrations by David Abbinanti.
Directed by Mauro Simone, who takes his cue from the film's immersive shots and the unforgettable sequence with a very young John Travolta, the theatre production brings freshness and relevance to the story of Italian-American Tony Manero, who marked a generation.
On stage, 21 performers bring to life the legendary hits of the Bee Gees, from Stayin' Alive and Night Fever to You Should Be Dancing and How Deep Is Your Love, global disco music successes but, at the same time, symbols of 1970s culture, hymns of freedom, courage and the fight against marginalisation. The lyrics of some of the songs have been translated by Franco Travaglio, while the songs that accompany the scenes set in 2001: A Space Odyssey are performed in English.

In 2026, the Rimini Marathon hosts the Italian Marathon Championships

On the occasion of the eleventh Rimini Marathon, scheduled for Sunday 19 April 2026, the FIDAL Federal Council has awarded the city of Rimini the honour of hosting the Italian Absolute Marathon Championships. This event of national and international significance will, for the first time, see Italy’s top runners compete on the streets of Rimini for the prestigious Tricolore title.
The heart of the event will be the Marathon Village, situated between Piazzale Fellini and the Rotonda Lucio Battisti in Marina Centro. The sporting programme, which spans three days of entertainment and live music, features two competitive FIDAL races—the 42km marathon and the 21km half-marathon—winding through the seafront and the most picturesque locations of the historic city centre.
Alongside the professional races, the event offers routes open to everyone: the Ten Miles (16km), the Family Run (6km), and the Kids Run (2km) dedicated to younger participants. Furthermore, the national gathering of "wheelchair pushers" (spingitori) is confirmed, an initiative that highlights the inclusive nature of the festival.
The awarding of the Absolute Championships represents significant technical recognition for the Rimini Marathon and the city itself, consolidating Rimini’s position as a premier platform for major sporting events.
Full details regarding registration and technical specifications are available on the official website.
