The Sand Crib is back on the public beach at Marina Centro, in the splendid setting of the winter sea, as part of the Ice Village.
The 2024-25 edition of the Artistic Sand Crib promises to be the largest and most imposing ever. It occupies a minimum area of 450 square metres on the public beach in Piazzale Boscovich, inside a covered marquee. It consists of at least 15 sculpture groups made up of sculptures varying in size from 1.5 metres to over 4 metres in height that will be integrated into a traditional Christmas setting.
Six sand sculptors, from different European countries, will be modelling sand with water to create the giant works that will compose the Nativity with shepherds, animals and village life with craftsmen and characters giving life to scenic sculptural groups.
A work that can be previewed as early as Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November in ‘live’ with the sand artists at work showing the unique spectacle of the ‘magic of sand’ taking shape.
Coinciding with the inauguration of the Crib, on Saturday 30 November, in Piazzale Boscovich, the large Christmas Ice Village will also kick off, including the craft market, the Happy Circus with its multicoloured marquee and children's shows, and the large indoor ice skating rink for doing pirouettes on ice.
