Rimini - the longest New Year’s eve in the world

A month of lights, music, art, shows, Christmas initiatives with focus on the three-day-celebration for the New Year

23 November 2024 - 6 January 2025
Multiple Events

The Christmas lights, the exhibitions, the Christmas markets and the nativity scenes light up the atmosphere of the most awaited holiday, making the whole city shine in a new and welcoming light.
A widespread programme that will kick off with the switching on of the Christmas lights on 23rd November, round 6pm, accompanied by the music of Eyos Orchestra - Einstein Youth OrcheStar, which will open the festivities from 5.30 p.m. in front of the Palazzo dell'Arengo with a striking musical performance, and will continue until Epiphany.
The winter sea lights up instead on Saturday 30 November with 3 kilometres of lights on the beach, for a Christmas walk suspended over the dunes. The beach path offers a long poetic walk along the seashore dotted with more than 30 illuminated benches organised by Piacere Spiaggia Rimini, on the raised dunes from bathing establishment 1 to bathing establishment 63. On the same day the bigsand Crib on the beach in Piazzale Boscovich will inaugurate together with the large Christmas Ice Village which includes the craft market, the Happy Circus with its multicoloured marquee and children's shows, and the large indoor ice skating rink (open until 12 January).

A month of music, art, shows and Christmas initiatives, with the high point, at the end of December, with plenty of ‘scattered’ New Year’s Eves, from the evening of 29 December to the morning of 1 January in the historic centre, with a format that has made Rimini one of the trendiest squares in Italy to celebrate the New Year.
Three Concerts: 31 December the festive music of Vinicio Capossela, 30 December the explosive mix of music and comedy of Elio e le Storie tese, 29 December the sounds of Irene Grandi.
On 31 December, 7 simultaneous parties in the old town centre culminating in the extraordinary ‘double’ performance of the Fire at the Castle. And also DJ sets, dancing floors, exhibitions, installations and even museums open at night.
After New Year's Eve, celebrations continue throughout the week leading up to Epiphany. Inaugurating the new year from the stage of the Galli Theatre will be L'Elisir d'amore, a playful melodrama in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti and many other initiatives between music, culture and tradition with the Befana festivities on Epiphany Day.
