Sagra Musicale Malatestiana: 73th edition of the most prestigious music event in Rimini

Symphony concerts and collateral projects

Since 1950, the Sagra Musicale Malatestiana has brought to Rimini the most prestigious conductors, soloists and orchestras of the international music scene, for one of the longest-running cultural events in Italy.
Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Jurowski, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti, Maria João Pires, Lisa Batiashvili are among the prestigious guests of the billboard of the 73rd Malatesta Music Festival which presents the most prestigious groups such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, l 'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonia.
Many soloists present in the various sections of the festival that gives space to young talents.

After the exhibition with the works of Luca Giovagnoli and Davide Conti, and of the sixteen students of the Graphic Design 3 course of the LABA of Rimini (Free Academy of Fine Arts), is Davide Frisoni’s turn to propose his works in a multipurpose space of Palacongressi, the Convivio space, the area that the Palacongressi of Rimini has allocated to the PERLarte project, an initiative that adds a further element of knowledge of the territory through the language of contemporary art and the enhancement of a local artist.
The exhibition by the Rimini artist Davide Frisoni offers international places from which the artist drew inspiration, as well as of course the city of Rimini, a city dedicated to welcoming and meeting.
The exhibition is available to participants in the congresses scheduled at the Palacongressi in Rimini and by reservation for citizens and tourists.
On December 16-17-18, Davide Frisoni's exhibition is open to the public with free admission from 4 to 7 pm.

It is a prose season that does not renounce to dream by offering a program with some of the most established performers and authors of the show business, with many female talented voices and attention to the contemporary scene.
Among the protagonists of the Italian scene who will be on the Rimini stage: Valter Malosti, Roberto Latini, Moni Ovadia, Francesco Pannofino, Mario Perrotta, Massimo Popolizio, Umberto Orsini, Fanny & Alexander, Oscar De Summa, Enzo Vetrano and Stefano Randisi, Carrozzeria Orfeo, Compagnia Virgilio Sieni and MK. And many great actresses as, Iaia Forte, Simona Marchini, Anna Foglietta, Paola Minaccioni, Maria Amelia Monti, Marina Massironi, Anna Bonaiuto, Valentina Cervi, Lella Costa.
Among the most expected titles of the 2022/2023 season: David Bowie's rock opera "Lazarus" with Manuel Agnelli, the theatrical transposition of "Mine Vaganti" by Ozpetek and the acclaimed work by Alessandro Serra "The Tempest".
These are the essential elements that guide the 2022/2023 Season: the presence of the great protagonists of the Italian scene and a mixture of genres and languages, ranging from classical to musical comedy to dance.
Alongside the 20 shows on the bill and dance proposals, there is the novelty of a special program designed for young people, for schools and for children aged 3 to 8 (among which, the review at the Teatro degli Atti "New generations", curated by Alcantara and "Sciroppo di teatro", in collaboration with ATER), with a choice of shows capable of intriguing, involving and interesting the new generations of spectators.
The second novelty concerns is the Teatro no limits project, created in collaboration with the Diego Fabbri Center in Forlì, which also offers the sighted and partially sighted persons the possibility to enjoy the emotions of a live show.

Contemporary art exhibition at the City Museum

45 works of contemporary art by 36 artists, awarded in 2021 as part of the tender promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region to support the visual arts sector hit in the pandemic era, exhibited in Rimini, in the New Wing of the City Museum.
The works, were selected by a jury made up of accredited experts in the sector (Gloria Bartoli, Walter Guadagnini and Marco Pierini) with the aim of identifying "the variety of the research that is being developed in the Emilia-Romagna area, a faithful mirror of the variety that characterizes the contemporary artistic panorama ".
The New Wing of the Museum will also host two extraordinary donations from the Bolognese patron Francesco Amante, an art enthusiast entrepreneur, who granted to the Region ‘Collection of Paths’ (1995) by Emil Lukas and to the Municipality of Rimini ‘Terza camera’ (Lettiga) (2007) by Flavio Favelli.
The exhibition is curated by Cristina Ambrosini, Claudia Collina and Giovanni Sassu, with the collaboration of Alessandro Paolo Lena.

The exhibition with the photographs of the master Saro Di Bartolo, intends to address the theme of the universal right to care for suffering and pain.
With his 175 works, the artist proposes the most significant steps of his creative path. A series of reportages and experimental creative projects. Works through which, starting from his Rimini, the photographer recounts his artistic evolution over the span of five decades.
The exhibition is organized by the ISAL Foundation in support of research on chronic incurable pain.

The annual ceremony that rewards and celebrates the World Champions in all motorcycle disciplines, which was held in Montecarlo in 2021, makes a stop in Rimini, between the Palacongressi and the Galli theater. Fim Awards is not just an awards ceremony. For four days the International Federation holds sessions at the Palas. The Galli instead is the place where the champions meet the fans with autograph sessions anticipated by a tour through the streets and places of the city. On Saturday 3 December, the day of the world motorcycling event at the Palacongressi, the champions of the various disciplines will be awarded, from MotoGp to Superbike to the Speedway and Motocross championships. The event is organized by the Italian Motorcycle Federation and Moab, an events and communication company.

Caritas - Migrantes and the main immigrant communities of the diocese of Rimini are promoting the "Exhibition of nativity scenes from all over the world", an exhibition but also a journey to meet the various immigrant communities who live in Rimini and who have prepared their nativity scene to be presented to the city. It will be possible to admire Nativity scenes from Senegal and Nigeria, Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela, but also from China, Ukraine, Romania and Albania, just to name a few.
An opportunity for reflection, knowledge and religious and cultural exchange that is offered to the city in order to increase the feeling of fraternity.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday 8 December in the presence of the Bishop and will remain open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays until the Epiphany.
The exhibition returns for the 19th edition, this year again in a fixed location, in the heart of the historic center, under the porticoes of Palazzo Garampi.

Walking and cycling

3rd edition of the walking and roller skating through the streets of Rimini. Departure at 9.30am with a route of 10 or 7 km on dirt tracks and asphalt up to the Tiberius Bridge and back. At the time of registration, participants are given a Santa Claus hat to wear during the event.
At the same time, the 14th edition of the cycling tour for road and MTB riders, starting at 9.30am. At the time of registration, a bag is given to the participants, containing the cap designed for the helmet plus the whistle.
The route starts from the Spadarolo Fuori Porta Cafeteria up to Bellaria, passing through Rimini Station, the Fountain of the 4 horses, the canal port, Rivabella, Viserba and back along the Tolemaide to Santarcangelo, San Martino dei Mulini, Vergiano, Spadarolo.
Rich buffet on arrival for all participants and final awards.
The proceeds will be donated to the non-profit association La Prima Coccola.

Also this year, the retailers, committees and associations of San Giuliano Mare in Rimini, propose the event in memory of Tete Venturini. The Marina di Rimini hosts the event, where a floating nativity scene is set up on the historic boats of Vele al Terzo Rimini.
Inauguration of the event, Saturday 17 December round 2.30 pm, with lightning and blessing of the nativity scene, preceded by a scenographic underwater torchlight procession and the arrival of the 'luminous Santa Claus' on jet skis.
The event ends with the distribution of panettone, sweets, hot chocolate and Santa Claus gifts to children.
In case of bad weather the party is postponed to Sunday 18 December at the same time.
The nativity scene remains on site until January 6, 2023.

‘A Nativity scene for the city’ is the traditional Nativity scene of the Zavatta onlus centre, which represents the nativity scene in the heart of the historic center and is organized with the contribution of the Association's operators and with the involvement of people who attend training and social activities.
The nativity is set up according to tradition in the splendid setting of the Arch of Augustus, where it will remain on display until the weekend following the Epiphany.

The Seafaring and Shell Museum of Viserbella opens for the holidays. It was set up in 1999 for the recovery of the history and maritime traditions of this small Rimini village.
The Museum preserves documents, artefacts and fishing equipment.
Typical boats, equipment for the different ways of fishing and the tools at the base of the artisan art of the shipwrights and caulkers are also exhibited here.
Furthermore, the Capici Collection, the most important collection of shells in the Mediterranean, is on display and a sector is dedicated to the fossils donated by Ivilia Rosa from Turin.
Visitors are welcomed by the traditional Marine Nativity scene, with the Nativity set up on a batana, the typical flat-bottomed boat.

To greet the new year, from the Teatro Galli’s stage, 'La Traviata', an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi on a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on the play by Alexandre Dumas (son) "The lady of the camellias", considered the 'Verdi's most significant and romantic work, forming part of the so-called 'popular' trilogy, together with Il Trovatore and Rigoletto.
La Traviata come back to Rimini ten years after the previous production organized by the Galli Choir in 2013, to continue the tradition of staging works chosen among the most loved by the audience as well as of extraordinary artistic and musical value. In addition to the 42 km marathon and the 21 km half marathon, there are: La Ventina 20 km, Family Run 6 km, Kids Run 1 km.
Also this year the national gathering of wheelchair "pushers" will be re-proposed, or groups that make disabled people experience the thrill of a marathon, pushing wheelchairs for all 42 kilometers.
The marathon village is set up at the Arco d'Augusto, where, in addition to collecting the race package, there are exhibitors from the sector.

Theater Season of prose and dance 2022/2023 - ABC shifts

'Lazarus' is the title of the surprising rock-work conceived and wanted by David Bowie shortly before his death, written alongside award-winning Irish playwright Enda Walsh, inspired by Walter Tevis' The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Lazarus, which premiered Off-Broadway at the New York Theater Workshop on December 7, 2015 (Bowie's last public appearance), offers a sort of sequel to the story of the unhappy interstellar migrant Newton, forced to stay on Earth.

Timed foot race every Saturday morning

Parkrun organizes timed races of 5 km all around the world, a sport event which is open to everyone.
The run in Rimini is at the Marecchia Park every Saturday morning. Just register on the official website of parkrun and bring with you a printout of the bar code at every race to get the chronometric detection time. The participation is free.
The parkrun is entirely organized by volunteers and a refreshment point will be available to runners with coffee, soft drinks and snacks.
A run together in a green space is fun and it is accessible to all, from beginners to more experienced runners.

'The hotel of dreams' is born, a museum itinerary that opens the doors of the Grand Hotel of Rimini to discover the places and stories of a national monument since 1994 and known throughout the world , thanks to Federico Fellini.
Nine workstations positioned in the hotel's iconic places; the garden,the facade,the hall and the Tonino Guerra room where stories are told through texts, photographs and short videos.
After an important restoration of the facade and external walls,the Grand Hotel reopens on February 18, 2022 to present itself with renewed splendor in the new year.
