There are about two hundred and fifty beach establishments, all well cared for and regularly renovated. In Rimini you can live the beach day and night. It starts at dawn when people go walking along the water’s edge to see the sun rising out of the Adriatic and finishes after a dinner, barefoot on the sand.
One advantage for tourists is that there is no entrance fee to go onto the beach. You can enter for free and only if you decide to stop, you can ask the bathing attendant for a sun lounger or un umbrella.
It is a beach of the finest golden sand, and therefore a first choice especially for families with children. The youngest find a place where the fun never ends. Many beach areas have special playgrounds reserved for them. And when they feel like taking a splash, there is nothing to worry about either: the shallow water and slow slopes from the beach are ideal for those going into the sea for the first time or for those who are still learning.
Beach umbrellas, sunshades and deck chairs can be rented in the official beach areas where you also find everything else that makes the stay on the seafront a pleasure. And this year the space available will be even wider, up to 18 square meters for each umbrella, a large and safe space to spend time, where the attention focuses on the well-being and protection of those who attend the beach. A rigorous sanitation plan is ensured on deckchairs, umbrellas and toilets by the beach attendants. The result is a beach that will expand in time and space, with the possibility of having extended services even at dinner and with a spacing between umbrellas which, thanks to the vastness of the Rimini beach, few others in Italy can offer. There are many cafes and food stalls where you can get a drink, an ice-cream or a snack, but the ordinance for the new bathing season allows public services, restaurants and similar to deliver food to customers on the beach also for dinner.
On the beach, all kinds of sports are practised, the traditional and the new ones. The beach is a largest open-air gym itself and even for a special summer like this, beach games and sports activities are allowed in 2020 too as long as you just use the dedicated spaces and maintain interpersonal distancing. As a matter of fact individual beach sports (single racket sports...) or water sports (such as swimming, windsurfing, sup and kitesurfing) can be practiced on a regular basis in accordance with the spacing measures. There are clubs offering lessons and equipment for sailing and wind or kite surfing.
The boss on the beach is the “bagnino” (beach attendant) who helps you with everything you need and often becomes a friend and advisor.
Moreover the beach is under the constant vigilance of life guards stationed along the shore with their little red boats. From June to September every stretch of water up to 500 metres from the shore is under their control. These "specialized life guards” have passed an international course in life saving recognized in 135 countries and staff lookout towers are positioned every 150 metres. Rimini is the only Italian resort where the beach area number is written on the
roofs of the beach cabins to facilitate the arrival of the rescue helicopter.
Children do not get lost on the beach. Or rather, if they do get lost, they are soon found again. The lifeguards collaborate and intervene to find the lost children. Most bathing establishments give the children an identity bracelet or something else with the name of the establishment on it. The beach is also equipped to deal with young babies: there are cabins with facilities for nappy changing and bottle heating.
Season by season environmental awareness on the beach improves, with the separation of rubbish ready for recycling, the use of recycled water for the flowers, solar panels and removal of architectural barriers. Since 2019 Rimini beach is plastic free and it is banned to smoke on the shoreline.
At present many beach establishments are dog friendly. However, there are certain rules to be followed. Vaccination certificates must be kept up to date, dogs must be on a lead and in some cases wear a muzzle. Furthermore, in this region it is forbidden to take dogs into the water. Our 4-legged friends can only enter the sea in the authorized areas and at the scheduled times. Find out where to go to the beach with your dog
