The Image Gallery proposes the exhibition " Aprirsi un varco"/"Opening a passage", a retrospective dedicated to the recently deceased artist from Rimini Luca Scarpellini.
On display are his works produced in the period from the eighties (years in which the artist began his research) to the nineties, the latter period in which the work of Luca Scarpellini matured: works in plaster, resins and objects.
The artist's research was born between his artistic studies (high school and academy) and his father's workshop. It is in this workshop that Luca finds the materials of his painting: resins, plastics, recycled objects ... which he fixes on the “canvas” with scagliola and glues of the most disparate genres. Materials and colors emerge from the white of the scagliola, as in a magical fog. Objects, textures and colors in perfect compositional balance. Particular attention is paid to the use of color. Due to a visual disturbance, the painter had an inaccurate perception of chromatism. In spite of this he succeeded, by dosing his materials to create compositions capable of satisfying both his and our gaze.
During the years of the Academy of Fine Arts (Ravenna and Bologna mid-eighties) Luca Scarpellini collaborated with the Young Visual Arts Center of the Municipality of Rimini by organizing series of exhibitions dedicated to young artists and conferences dedicated to the study of contemporary art. Luca Scarpellini was also the creator and owner of "L’Age d’Or" a bookshop and art gallery in the center of Rimini.
