Rimini, the first Autism Friendly Destination
Families often preclude the joy of a holiday for fear of not being 'well received' by the structures and social contexts where they are on holidays just because of the difficulty of relationship of their beloved ones.
In the summer of 2013, the non-profit organization Rimini Autism in accordance with the ASL Autism Center has started a pilot project to transform Rimini into an Autism Friendly Destination. The capital of hospitality transforms its capacity into a new pattern of excellence in tourism with personnel and services, professionally competent to deal with people suffering from autism.
The structures involved are hotels, beach resorts, theme park like Italy in miniature, sports and shopping centers, tourist offices and public transport with a reception staff ready for welcoming people with autism. The network includes a team of educators available for the relief of the families on vacation.
