Dating back to the early twentieth century, it is one of the symbols of Rimini Riviera
The fountain, located in Parco Federico Fellini, is a symbol of Rimini Riviera.
It was sculpted by the local artist, Filogenio Fabbri, and inaugurated on 29 June 1928.
Standing in the centre of the gardens, it suffered no damage during the war, but after the passage of the front in 1945, the Horse Fountain was removed and the large basin demolished in September 1954.
The sea horses were transported to the Fire Brigade headquarters in Via Dario Campana and three of them were housed in Marecchia Park. Only later, Umberto Bartolani and Fausta Fabbri dedicated themselves to its relocation, so that it was restored to its original location in 1983.
The main basin is circular in shape and symbolically represents the sea, from which four seahorses rise, pouring water from their nostrils and holding, with their heads, another basin for a central gush, spraying water upwards.
On the base of the fountain, a plaque from 1987 commemorates Ugo Stentori, who carried out the successful restoration of the fountain and the main basin.
