Since August 2009, the Municipality of Rimini has established the Municipal Register of Shops and Historical Markets, an important recognition for those activities that are fully part of the history of the city.
Among these are, for example, the San Michele Pharmacy (today's continuation of the hospital pharmacy opened to the public in 1910 and, which has maintained its original furnishings, furniture, equipment and tools, perfectly preserved since then), the historic Rose & Crown (since 1964 in Rimini the first English pub opened in Italy), the Bar Ilde, on the Covignano hill the bar of the typical Rimini piadina opened in 1958, the Pizzeria del Secolo or the Fellini bakery whose history begins in 1948.
Among the main conditions for being included in the Register is the carrying out of the same activity in the same place with the same original characteristics for at least 50 continuous years and the shops must preserve 'elements of particular historical, artistic, architectural and environmental interest ", or "particularly significant elements for the tradition and culture of the place." In fact, the true value of the Historical Shops is that they are the memory of the city, places that have become, like monuments, points of reference for the Rimini people.
