The Natural Park between Marche and Romagna

The Interregional Natural Park of Sasso Simone and Simoncello is a territory of 4791 hectares located in the provinces of Pesaro-Urbino and Rimini, on the border with the homonymous Tuscan Nature Reserve in the municipality of Sestino (AR), located in the heart of Montefeltro in the municipalities of Carpegna, Frontino, Montecopiolo, Pian di Meleto, Pennabilli and Pietrarubbia.
To visit and discover the beauties of the Park, experience its natural environments, learn about the geological peculiarities and the botanical rarities, or even meet the wild fauna or discover the artistic and monumental testimonies of the territory, different itineraries are possible, in summer and in winter, on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike.To discover the possible itineraries, www.parcosimone.it/itinerari/
The whole district has equipped areas to rest and play such as: the Parco delle Querce, the Prato della Cantoniera and the Cippo a Carpegna.
The outdoor teaching room of San Sisto and the homonymous rest area in Piandimeleto. Pietrarubbia with its rest and play area and the S. Silvestro botanical garden.
In Montecopiolo there are the Hermitage, the Monteboaggine belvedere area, the Monte Pietra Candella lake and the Macchia Pianacquadio rest area.
We remind you of Soanne di Pennabilli with its park and Miratoio di Pennabilli with its rest and play area. Finally, the viewpoint area strada Valpiano, at the viewpoint of Monte Canale.
Among the Park Structures, there are the Naturalistic Museum and Visitor Center of Pennabilli (RN).
There is also the Wildlife Park in Pian dei Prati (PU), with domestic and wild animals and environmental education centers.
There is no shortage of facilities for welcoming groups and schoolchildren, structures in the Park (Hostel in Calvillano and Foresteria di Frontino) and hotels, farmhouses, campsites and restaurants for all tastes.
Inside the park there is a military polygon. Hikers are therefore invited, before starting the excursion, to inquire if the path they intend to travel crosses the Military Polygon and if exercises are planned.
