In the green from the sea to the historic centre
The cycle path begins in front of piazzale Kennedy, passing through the historic center and the Palacongressi leading to the quarry park.
The paved cycle and pedestrian path starts in the park named after mother Elisabetta Renzi (1786-1859), founder of the Maestre Pie della Vergine Addolorata, beatified in 1989. A green belt with a wide variety of tree and shrub species that shade games for children and rest areas (umbrella pines, holm oaks, plane trees, American maples, saccharine maples, thuie, palm trees, red myrobalans, hackberry trees, lime trees, tamarisks and other species).
After passing an underpass, you enter the Maria Callas Park, dedicated to the famous soprano, which runs alongside the railway yard; inside there are some fairly large hackberry trees and a row of old tamarisk trees with twisted trunks, as well as locust trees, curly maples, pines, holm oaks, birches and Judas trees. Here there is a dog walking area. A short distance away, along Via Roma, there are also the remains of the Roman amphitheater and the railway station.
From here, crossing the new bridge over via Roma, the path continues towards the historic center into the Alcide Cervi Park and then, after an underpass, into the Parco Olga Bondi, up to the larger Parco Fabbri, beyond which the cycle path reaches “I Poderi della Ghirlandetta”, an area which flanks the Palacongressi and extends around the modern bridge in via della Fiera to reach the parco della cava.
