Cartoon Club, the International Festival of Animation and Comics, is back in Rimini in July.
In 2017 the Festival celebrates its 33rd edition and proposes a rich calendar of events located both in the marina area and in the historic centre.
The core of the Festival is set in the elegant and suggestive location of Castel Sismondo, the Malatestian castle in the heart of Rimini's historic centre, with projections, meetings with authors, previews, exhibitions, presentations and the colorful Aperitoon. The festival features the best international animated films with over 400 short films from Europe, United States and Asia, Japanese animated films, productions by the European animation film schools and a selection from the Cartoon d'Or, the European contest of animated film. In addition, a selection of short films of the festival ‘Around the world in 80 shorts’ in collaboration with Amarcort Film Festival is proposed on Tuesday 18th July.
In the calendar there are also events of music and dance such as 'The Little Mermaid', dance performance accompanied by music on July 17th at Castel Sismondo, and the concert by 'Miwa' on stage in Piazzale Fellini on Saturday 22nd July.
Among the exhibitions scheduled there are The Simpsons at the Galli theatre and a journey between comics and cartoons linked to J. R. R. Tolkien at Castel Sismondo.
The highlight of the week is the four-day event, from July 20th to 23rd, with the exhibition fair Riminicomix and the Rimini Cosplay Convention, when Piazzale Fellini will be invaded by hundreds of young people wearing gaudy costumes inspired by comics characters and cartoons.
The festival is a meeting place for all those who are keen of the world of cartoons with entertaining events for all ages.
