The opening concert of the Sagra Musicale Malatestiana music festival is dedicated to  contemporary music with a masterpiece by Hans Werner Henze, El Cimarrón.
The music recital written for voice of baritone, guitar, flute and percussion. The composition it is inspired by the biography by Miguel Barnet on the Cuban fugitive, Estéban Montejo, a 19th century fighter for the island's liberation war, and it marks an important collaboration between the German composer and the writer Hans Magnus Enzensberger.
In Rimini, El Cimarrón will be performed by four prestigious soloists: the baritone Nicholas Isherwood, the guitarist Magnus Andersson, the percussionist Rodolfo Rossi and the flutuist Roberto Fabbriciani.
