On the hill of Covignano you can take a particular Via Crucis along the staircase that leads to the Santuario delle Grazie. It is perhaps the oldest in the world, because the chronicles mention it since 1550; in the fourteen chapels built along the slope, since 1750 large terracotta panels (155 x 120 cm.) by Carlo Sarti of Bologna were kept, replaced, after the complete destruction in the war, by ceramics of the same size by the Rimini sculptor Elio Morri.
As per tradition, still today on the evening of Good Friday, the procession leaves from via Covignano, at the foot of the large cross, and retraces the Via Crucis along the stairway leading to the sanctuary.
