The hinterland of Rimini boasts a heritage of 375 thousand olive trees that produce annually about 30 thousand tons of olives, half of extra virgin olive oil produced in the region Emilia Romagna.
The thousands of old olive trees in the landscape of the hills of Rimini region are a testimony of the age-old tradition of olive cultivation in this area and the deeply-rooted interest of the local people in this plant.
Olio Extravergine d’Oliva D.O.P. “Colline di Romagna” is produced with agricultural methods that do not alter the organoleptic characteristics of the olives, and allows for a medium fruity taste, occasionally tending towards light when traces of fresh leaves and green almonds are added.
This oil can be purchased in many oil mills that directly sell to the public, as well as in farms or boarding houses (Agriturismi) that offer olive oil as well as other products from their own farms.
In autumn there are several fairs and festivals in the small towns of the surrounding hills, such as the festival in Coriano that takes place in November.
