A bit of history

Construction began in 1933, based on plans by surveyor Giuseppe Maioli, and was completed in November 1934.
During this phase, the velodrome and three large grandstands were built, with a total of 4,000 seats; below there were halls for boxing and gymnastics. Inside the perimeter wall, the football pitch and the tennis court were built. The facility, which was called 'stadio del Littorio', was renamed simply 'Comunale' at the end of the Second World War, and was named after the gymnast Romeo Neri after his death.

Over time, the sports facility has been the subject of interventions, all aimed at improving its sporting fruition.

In 2021, the Romeo Neri stadium reconfirmed its 'FIFA Quality PRO' certification. A compulsory test to allow the Rimini football pitch to be included among those where the professional competitions envisaged by FIFA can be played.
