The summer festival of meetings, exhibitions, music and shows, in its forty-second edition, will be held in attendance at the Rimini Fair district, from 20 to 25 August. With the title “Il coraggio di dire «io»”/"The courage to say" I ", a quote from a text by the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard. The event full of round tables, discussions and cultural initiatives will also be broadcast live on multiple digital channels and in multiple languages, proposing itself as a moment of reflection and global restart from the pandemic.
With the title "The courage to say 'I'", the Meeting is an invitation to rediscover the consistency and greatness of one's life so that through responsibility, dialogue and creativity it becomes more and more full and fruitful, as an antidote to individualism and collectivism.
Among the speakers Nobel laureates, institutions, journalists and experts. The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will participate at the opening of the event on 20 August.
This year the shows will not only be inside the exhibition halls, but almost every evening there will be shows in the heart of the historic center in Rimini, Piazza Tre Martiri. To inaugurate this new edition Uto Ughi and Friends Orchestra (Friday 20 August at 9.30 pm) will perform Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with introductory texts, written by the composer himself, and presented by Maestro Ughi. Following, Federico Mecozzi (Sunday 22 August at 9.30 pm), a young violinist from Rimini who signed with Ludovico Einaudi the soundtracks that accompanied the triumph of “Nomadland” and “The Father” at the Oscars. Maurizio Donadoni interprets 'The dream of San Giuseppe' by Luca Doninelli (Monday 23 August at 9.30pm) an original production by the Teatro de Gli Incamminati and focused on the figure of Giuseppe; finally Paolo Cevoli with the 'Sagra Famiglia' (Tuesday 24 August at 9.30 pm). Saturday 21 August is the turn of "Dante 2021 - I found myself ... from the dark forest to paradise", a journey to discover the Divine Comedy with Marco Martinelli, in collaboration with the Italian Association of Cultural Centers and the Teatro delle Albe in Ravenna, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet (Free tickets subject to availability, bookable on the Meeting app)
On Sunday 22 at the “Corte degli Agostiniani” in the center of Rimini, the screening of the film 'A hidden life', a masterpiece by the American director Terrence Malick, about the life of Franz Jägerstätter, the farmer who knew how to say no to Hitler.
The Meeting also hosts aMeeting Music Contest, in collaboration with Mei-Meeting of the independent labels of Faenza. After the Semifinals held at the Fair district from 20 to 23 August, the finalists will compete for the victory on the final evening of 25 August at the Arena Lido, Darsena di Rimini, presented by Lorenzo Baglioni. For the occasion, a Jury of Honor, composed by Lorenzo Baglioni, Erica Mou, NAIP, Federico Mecozzi, Max Monti and other leading figures of Italian song and music journalism, together with Giordano Sangiorgi and Otello Cenci, coordinators, will designate the winner of the event.
Twelve are the exhibitions set up in the exhibition halls. These include the exhibition dedicated to Tolkien, and the one dedicated to Pasolini, not to speak about Pasolini, but to hear Pasolini speak. "Pasolini LIVE", in fact, is an uninterrupted reading for over 10 hours a day of Pasolini's books and collections (articles, poems, interventions ...) made by the volunteers and visitors of the Meeting, as well as by groups of actors, artists and curators, called to read for over 50 hours of live broadcast.
In the PART - Palazzi dell’Arte Rimini in Piazza Cavour the exhibition “Natura umana? A che immagine, a che oscura somiglianza" "Human nature?" To what image, to what obscure resemblance ". Contemporary Italian sculpture from Fioravanti till today, curated by Davide Rondoni. The aim of the exhibition, curated by a poet, is to offer a glimpse of the image of man and on the expression of his identity both in the creative process and in the effigy of the work. Admission to the exhibition is free without reservation. Opening cerimony on Friday 20 August at 7.30 pm. The opening hours are the same as for the museum.
