The “dream” is the topic of the sixth edition of the “Italian summer New Year’s Eve”, which will be held on Friday 1st July 2011 along the 110 km of the Emilia Romagna Adriatic riviera. A long “daydream”, from sunset on Friday 1st July, with an inimitable combination of shows, concerts, theatrical performances, art exhibitions and happenings, fireworks, cuisine and conviviality, for a unique unforgettable weekend.
For its sixth edition, La Notte Rosa (The Pink Night) has chosen the theme of desire, dreamlike vision, wonder and imagination without bonds or frontiers, under the banner of the claim “The dream is here”.
Dreams are therefore the theme and subject for constructing an event that intertwines the imagery to which we are attached, from the Book of dreams by Federico Fellini to the arrival of the liner Rex, from the magic of a coast that is softly illuminated at dusk and explodes simultaneously in midnight pyrotechnic festivities, a place in which things happen that would be impossible elsewhere, and where, as in the Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, at a certain point, the craftsmen stage a show within the show.
Federico Fellini, who more than anybody else represented on the silver screen continuous roving between dreams and reality, with his images, heroes, words and designs, turned us into an evocative open-air set, and it is this scenography that comes to life for La Notte Rosa 2011, an edition that will be a new book of dreams to leaf through, with pages containing acrobats, dancers, lights, sounds, scenography, magic dream-like visions, in a collective rite that repeats its magic and uniqueness every year.
The official image given to this dream is fruit of the talent of Bertrand Sallé, a young Parisian artist and illustrator, who created the official La Notte Rosa 2011 poster. A wonderful blue night forms the theatrical backdrop for a meeting between a man and a woman with the features of the moon, immortalizing the moment of a gift between the two: a heart, symbol of genuine amusement, friendship, true feelings and conviviality, which La Notte Rosa and the people of the Romagna riviera embody perfectly.
From the late afternoon of the 1st July, the dream will invade the riviera’s most beautiful suggestive locations with its magic. Squares and streets, promenades, beaches, arenas, churches, old town centres, amusement parks and monuments will become the sets for over 300 events, from music to art, passing through dance, gourmet produce, cabaret, cinema and acrobatic circus, all with the dream theme in common and its endless repertory, from Shakespeare to Magritte, Federico Fellini to Le Cirque du Soleil, the ”American Dream” and Nino Rota.
An entire weekend in which to dream once more, far from the chaos and stress of the city, absorbing energy, clean air, friendship and real emotions, thanks to the endless facilities of the Romagna riviera, with its restaurants, bathing establishments, museums, clubs, stores and street bars, all open “all night long”, and vacation packages created for the occasion by tour operators. At midnight, the appointment’s on the beach, for the huge firework “concert”, which will embroider the sky above the riviera’s beaches with bright colours, while at sunrise, on the morning of Saturday 2nd July, the beach will once again be the key player, with highly suggestive dawn concerts, which will accompany the sunrise with the jazz of Raphael Gualazzi who, along with Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet, will present his latest album, entitled “Reality and fantasy”.
On Saturday 2nd July and the following day the festival will move to the town centre with many other surprises.
