Rimini 1920-2020 'Everything is imagined': between dream and reality, great artists pay homage to Federico Fellini on the centenary of his birth.

Fellini was born on January 20, 1920 in Via Dardanelli in Rimini at 9.30 pm, Capricorn rising sign Virgo. And even though he left young - as he said in I Vitelloni - Federico Fellini always had a very close relationship with his hometown, so much as to pay homage to it with an absolute masterpiece like Amarcord. And Rimini becomes the center of major activities to remember this genius who loved to repeat "Nothing is known, everything is imagined". A unique birthday, in the places where Fellini was born, then grew, accumulating memories and dreams that would then have become a poetic lymph for his masterpieces, known all over the world. Rimini is the protagonist of this extraordinary birthday, which is also an opportunity to testify the unconditional love of 'his' city towards an immortal genius, which honors the whole country in the world.

Rimini celebrates Federico Fellini's birthday with the event "Fellini 100. A birthday lasting a year". A program full of events throughout 2020. Started on 14 December 2019 with the inauguration of the 'Fellini 100 exhibition. Immortal Genius' at Castel Sismondo, it will live its most important moments in the week from 17 to 31 January, to end with the inauguration of the International Museum dedicated to him at the end of the year.


Ezio Bosso and the Europe Philharmonic Orchestra
Not just a concert, but three days of full immersion at the Galli Theater for Ezio Bosso and his Europe Philharmonic, an orchestra that collects elements from all over the continent. Maestro Bosso will direct the group on Sunday 19 January at 9 pm, for a concert which will range from Bach to Vivaldi and Mozart. Not a classic homage to Fellini, but a way to tell the geniuses who, like Fellini, have revolutionized the costume and the art of their time, starting from Beethoven's Third, which revolves around the concept of remembrance, of the hero not to be forgotten. The concert will be preceded by two days of open rehearsals (with paid admission) on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th January.


January 20, 2020: "Happy birthday Federico"
On the exact day of the Centenary, January 20th, Maestro Vince Tempera will be on the stage of the Galli Theater, to wish "Happy Birthday Federico" through the music that made Fellini's films immortal. The Maestro will conduct the SymphonItaly Orchestra in a program that includes the execution of the original scores of the most famous musical themes of the Rimini director's films. “Starting from La Strada - said the master Tempera - perhaps the theme of Rota's music that I love most and the best way to enter Fellini's dreams and magical world.

But the most awaited moment, is the big street party on January 20 at 5.30 pm, from the Malatesta Castle, home of the future Fellini Museum, a colorful parade will start guided by the Musicians of San Crispino, which will precede the children's parade with the drawings of their dreams, their tribute to the most visionary among all dreamers. At 6.00pm the procession will arrive in Piazza Cavour for the show of the internationally acclaimed illusionist and performer Kai Leclerc, with the show 'Fellini up side down', the attempt to surprise the public by projecting, in an upside down world, some of the most famous scenes from Fellini's films. To accompany Leclerc, Elisa Barucchieri, an exceptional aerial dancer who will bring the show from heaven to earth and again from earth to heaven. Together with the Fidelio company, Barucchieri will alternate with the show of Leclerc to bring the public into a dreamlike world, to relive the Fellini atmosphere.

At the end of the show, at 7.00 pm, in Piazza Cavour, the cutting of the monumentalCake of Dreams - about 2 meters high - made by the master pastry chef Roberto Rinaldini who personally reinterpreted the director's favorite dessert: 'Zuppa inglese Fellini 100'.

Also on 20 January, from 10.00am to 2.00pm, Castel Sismondo hosts Poste Italiane, on the occasion of the issue of a stamp dedicated to the centenary of Fellini's birth.


THE FLAVOR OF DREAMS, FELLINI AT THE TABLE
On Tuesday, January 21, the events to celebrate the Maestro's birthday continue with 'The flavor of dreams'. A special Brigade of chefs, composed by Corrado Assenza, Luigi Taglienti, Giuseppe Iannotti, Luigi Sartini, Riccardo Agostini, Gianpaolo Raschi, Lorenzo Cagnoli, Silvio Di Donna, will flavor the dreams of the great director.It starts with an aperitif and ends with a dinner prepared for 150 guests in the elegant setting of the Ressi room of the Galli Theater. LA LEGGE DEL SOGNATORE (THE LAW OF THE DREAMER)
Wednesday 22 January.
The law of the dreamer, Daniel Pennac's new book published by Feltrinelli Editore, on January 16 in Italy, is a great tribute to Federico Fellini. A book that becomes a show: the author will in fact take it on tour in the form of a theatrical reading in Milan, Turin and Rimini.


THE PARTY GOES ON
On 17 January
the work "Ex Voto PGNR", a suspended Madonna in plaster and wood, evocation of the Christ hanging from the helicopter in the memorable initial sequence of the Dolce Vita, will be the homage by Vittorio D'Augusta to Federico Fellini, in the Poletti Room of the Galli Theater . Also on January 17th (at 6.00 pm free admission) at the Fulgor cinema Roberto Chiesi, Jonathan Giustini and Gianfranco Miro Gori present the book FELLINI INEDITO by Jonathan Giustini (Interno4 edizioni): 65 photographs from The Nights of Cabiria.

From Saturday 18 January, an exhibition within the exhibition will enrich the first multimedia exhibition dedicated to Fellini. In the rooms of Castel Sismondo, which hosts the exhibition 'Fellini 100. Immortal genius' until March 15, from January 18 you can visit a set of unpublished photos on the set of the film 'La strada' from the collection of Mauro Penzo, edited by Claudio Ballestrcci (www.mostrafellini100.it).

The "Seventh Art - Cinema and Industry", Rimini film festival will take place from 3 to 5 April. A three-day event, all free and open to the public, with master classes, projections, previews, exhibitions and readings which aims to celebrate cinema as an artistic industry and production / professional process.

2020 in Rimini will be a tribute to Federico Fellini, until the opening of the International Museum dedicated to him, of which the Exhibition "Fellini 100 Genio Immortale" in Castel Sismondo is, in part, an anticipation. Many international artists, during this year in Rimini, will pay homage to one of the greatest geniuses of the seventh art.
