Discovering Rimini by bike

Published on: 9 January 2023

Rimini reserves a thousand extraordinary opportunities for bicycle lovers. 130 km of cycle paths, structures designed for cyclists, investments in electric sharing mobility, all commitments that have earned Rimini the recognition of ComuneCiclabile by the FIAB and that have allowed the development of a varied offer for cycle tourism.

Structures and services designed for two wheels

The 'Bicipolitana'
With over 130 KM of cycle paths, Rimini allows you to live the city in comfort riding your bike: from families with children to those who use the bicycle occasionally, up to those who, on the other hand, are more trained.

Thus the "sea view" ride, along the entire south promenade, the Parco del Mare project between greenery and spaces for sports, allows you to go on the cycle path from the port of Rimini to the border with Riccione, along the beach resorts. On the north promenade, the 6 km of cycle and pedestrian paths are accessible from Rivabella to Torre Pedrera.

The "Green Ring" from the sea (Piazzale Kennedy) leads to the Palacongressi (convention centre) and to the Giovanni Paolo II park, which runs along the suggestive lake inhabited by ducks and swans, until it reaches, along the bank of the Ausa stream, the green lung of Rimini (XXV Aprile Park), the two thousand year old Tiberius Bridge with its square on the water and the characteristic Borgo San Giuliano. From here you can continue to discover the ancient city or go along the path that winds along the bed of the Marecchia River: a path that combines naturalistic beauties with historical ones allowing you to reach the ancient villages on the nearby hills, such as Verucchio, Torriana, Montebello and San Leo.

All the routes, enriched with information and useful tips for cyclists, can be consulted in the City Guide

Not only cycle paths, Rimini revises its slow mobility by providing facilities designed for cycle tourists and services to make holidays on two wheels easier. The Bike Park Rimini is the new active hub at the Rimini railway station that allows interchange between the use of low environmental impact vehicles (the Metromare terminus is also located here). The Bike Park provides various services to those who travel by bike: guarded parking, bicycle rental (from single-speed to six-speed), electric bicycles and cargo bikes. A bicycle workshop equipped 365 days a year with mechanical assistance and information for travelers on two wheels, electric bicycles charging, accessories shop and a small bar. And for those who are passing-by and would like to stop just for a few hours in the city to visit the beautiful historic center or to reach the seafront without the weight of their own suitcases, at the Bike Park it is now possible to deposit their luggage. Furthermore, immediate discount on the bicycles and e-bikes rental can be offered to those who travel with Trenitalia and present their ticket with the date of the day and destination Rimini to the Bike Park. Rimini Bike Hotels are places designed to welcome cyclists. The two associations, (www.riminibikehotels.com) and Consorzio Terrabici (www.terrabici.com/it), are specialized in satisfying the needs of the professional biker or the simple bicycle enthusiast, thanks to a high standard of specialized services: bike tours, possibility to rent bicycles in the structure, cycle tour guides, mechanical assistance, special programs and everything that is necessary for lovers of two wheels to experience an unforgettable holiday between sport, nature and extraordinary itineraries along the beach and on the hills.

Cycling tourism
For those who love to travel on two wheels even on vacation, Rimini offers places and routes of great charm. From "wine tasting bike tours" that accompany guests on e-bike excursions to local wineries for the tasting of local products, to tours that combine land and sea such as the "Bike & Boat" offer which alternates half-day excursions on two wheels with the other half in the middle of the sea aboard sailboats or catamarans. Even lovers of history, art or cinema can find their own route to be carried out on an e-bike. There are numerous tours to discover the artistic riches of the city and its hinterland accompanied by specialized guides, as well as tours dedicated to the Maestro of cinema, Federico Fellini, leading guests to the places in Rimini linked to him, first among all the new Fellini Museum.
Several are the operators which offer such experiences (www.biketourrimini.it, www.emotion-bike.it), giving the possibility either to join with their own bike, rent an e-bike or face even the most difficult routes accompanied by expert guides. VisitRimini has prepared 100 outdoor experiences to allow you to enjoy your holiday in Rimini in complete safety an in all seasons. (Info : www.visitrimini.com).
