After 75 years, the Galli Theatre reopened its doors on 28 October 2018 with the wonderful voice of Cecilia Bartoli and the celebrations will go on until December with an extraordinary theatre program, thanks to the extraordinary presence of Roberto Bolle, world dance star, and the famous Russian master Valery Gergiev. A two-months opening, including special events, international stars, Sagra Musicale Malatestiana (Malatesta Music Festival), prose theatre season and exhibition of the artistic excellence of the territory.
While Cecilia Bartoli made the music resound in the evocative spaces of the restored 'Galli', the inaugural program continues with the extraordinary presence of Roberto Bolle. Undisputed star of ballet dancing, Roberto Bolle has electrified audiences all over the world, enamouring even the television audience. He will make his debut on Saturday 3 November at 8 p.m. with an exceptional performance of Roberto Bolle and Friends, the exciting journey into the universe of ballet involving famous artists from all over the world (a show produced by ARTEDANZA srl). The show program will range from the great classics of dance, to the most innovative choreographies, crossing different styles and schools, with an original set designed for the occasion. A star beloved by the public and étoile of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Roberto Bolle has been for ten years also Principal Dancer of the American Ballet Theater in New York, the only Italian artist in history to be on the two assignments simultaneously.
The world-class opera will make its appearance in the Galli Theatre, on 10 and 11 December, thanks to the scenic performance of 'Simon Boccanegra 'by Giuseppe Verdi, directed by Valerij Gergiev. The famous Russian master intended to honour the reopening of Galli Theatre, involving the Mariinsky Theatre and directing the masterpiece of Verdi in the successful staging recently presented in St. Petersburg.
During the two months of opening, together with the three inaugural events, there will be special events. Among them, Sagra Musicale Malatestiana, the Malatesta Music Festival events, with the likes of Svetlana Zakharova and the violin virtuoso Vadim Repin, Nicola Piovani and the Labèque sisters, the theatrical performances of the first season of prose at the Amintore Galli Theatre introduced by the extraordinary creativity of Peppe and Toni Servillo (on 30 October). There will be also frequent performances with musical and theatrical excellences of the Rimini area, a set of meetings on the history of theatre in Rimini and several occasions to make and propose a widespread culture.
