SCAT-ti JAZZ, the rediscovered photographic archive on show at the Galleria dell'Immagine.
On 1 June 1980, when jazz legend Chet Baker took the stage in Marecchia Park, Davide Minghini's camera lens was there to capture timeless moments and images. Those shots, together with photos never brought to light of memorabilia jazz concerts organised in Rimini and of musicians who passed through the Riviera's historic venues such as the Paradiso, the Embassy, the Altro Mondo and the Grand Hotel, now form a path of images in which to rediscover that Rimini of the ‘dolce vita’, loved by so many musicians who lived it and sang it, making it a compulsory stop on their international tours.
The European Song Festival in Riccione with Gorni Kramer, the concerts at the Paradiso with the American trumpeter Chet Baker, Romano Mussolini, Tony Scott and Cicci Santucci, up to the great concert in Piazza Cavour by Giorgio Gaslini, Henghel Gualdi, Caterina Valente, Giulio Capiozzo, Henry Salvador and Nicola Arigliano, are just some of the rediscovered characters that can be seen in the exhibition.
The idea for this exhibition, curated by Federico Tassani and Cristina Vitri - @Rimini Jazz Club, arose from research on Chet Baker and the Rimini he often frequented, which led to the rediscovery of his photograph, taken at a concert in Marecchia Park. Hence the idea of searching through the Minghini archive for photos of jazz concerts organised in Rimini and of musicians who have passed through the Riviera.
Inauguration on Friday 13 September at 5 p.m.
