Excursions and Guided tours
'Alea iacta est' with these words, Caius Julius Caesar, in January 49 B.C. together with the very faithful XIII Legio Gemina crossed the Rubicon, the river that separated the borders of the territories of Urbe from Cisalpine Gaul, so changing history. He then proceeded to Ariminum, where he harangued his valiant men, the legionaries of the Thirteenth Legion, the 'Lions of Cisalpine Gaul'. One of the decisive moments in Julius Caesar's life and in the whole of Roman history took place in Rimini and here the event is re-enacted. Starting from the Piazza sull'Acqua at the Ponte di Tiberio (Tiberius Bridge) and following the decumanus in a procession towards the ancient Roman forum, one can experience the evocative atmosphere of Roman history and march together with the Roman legionaries, alongside their great shields.
The event, organised in cooperation with the Museums of Rimini, has been postponed from Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 January due to bad weather.
