New Year's opera: Tosca at the Galli Theatre

Giacomo Puccini's Opera at the Galli Theatre for the longest New Year's celebrations in the world

1 – 2 - 4 January 2024
Music

The new year will start on the stage of the Galli Theatre with 'Tosca', a three-act opera by Giacomo Puccini, with libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, based on the play 'La Tosca' by Victorien Sardou.
Tosca is considered Puccini's most dramatic opera, full of twists and turns that keep the audience in suspense. The plot centres on three main characters: the Roman diva Floria Tosca, her lover Mario Cavaradossi (a painter and republican) and the corrupt police chief, Baron Scarpia. The drama, set in Rome in June 1800, contains some of Puccini's most famous opera arias.
It will be performed by the Lyric Choir of Rimini, "Amintore Galli" and a cast of the highest calibre accompanied by the Orchestra Sinfonica delle Terre Verdiane conducted by Concertmaster Massimo Taddia. The Galli Choir is trained by M° Marcello Mancini.
Opera directed by Riccardo Canessa.
