Meeting of 'Vele al Terzo' - the ancient sailing boats

The traditional and ancient boats "Vela al Terzo", which for centuries have sailed the Adriatic sea, arrive in Rimini harbour on Saturday morning 10.30. The characteristic of these boats is a rig of two flagpoles and a trapezoid shaped sail. In the ancient time these sails, always colored and decorated with symbols and figures, marked the harbor and the family of which the boat belonged.
The boats will be moored at the dock in front of Piazzale Boscovich available to be visited, and after traditional sailing tour on the sea departs at 2.30 pm. The boats are able to host on board people until the maximum of the boat's capacity. The return is scheduled at 5 pm when a demonstration of an ancient way of fishing, 'la tratta' is held on the beach with the participation of the public. Follows tastings of grilled fish for everyone.
In addition, there is an event of contemporary painting along the pier at 5 pm and during the whole afternoon is set up exhibitions of traditional fishing tools, photos and videos related to the history of Rimini seafaring. In evening of Saturday there are entertainment with traditional live music and dance.
The festival concludes Sunday morning at 10 am with a historical reenactment, a procession in the sea of St. Anthony.
