Il turco in Italia, an opera buffa composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1814 for the Teatro alla Scala, makes its debut at the Teatro Galli. It is presented in a new production realised by the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo in co-production with the theatres of Novara, Rimini, Ravenna, Pisa and Jesi.
With Giuliana Gianfaldoni (Fiorilla), Maharram Huseynov (Selim), Giulio Mastrototaro (Don Geronio), Bruno Taddia (Prosdocimo) the new production will feature the Orchestra Luigi Cherubini conducted by Hossein Pishkar and will be signed by the young director Roberto Catalano, who has imagined a new interpretation of Rossini's exhilarating opera.
Il turco in Italia will be streamed live from the Teatro Galli on Friday 15 November from 8pm on the Opera Streaming portal (operastreaming.com), the first regional opera platform in Italy. The project proposes a seasonal playbill of operas broadcast live on video from the main opera production bodies in Emilia-Romagna (the Bologna Opera Foundation, the Tradition Theatres of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Ferrara and Ravenna, the Amintore Galli Theatre in Rimini) in collaboration with EDUNOVA-University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
