Fellini meets Mickey Mouse

Exhibition at the Fulgor Palace for the Disney 100th anniversary tribute

from Saturday 28 October to Sunday 19 November 2023
Exhibitions

On the centenary of 'Disney', founded on 16 October 1923, and 32 years after the first publication of 'Mickey Mouse presents La Strada', Fellini Museum and Amarcort Film Festival celebrate the meeting between Federico Fellini and one of the world's greatest Disney artists, Giorgio Cavazzano, with an exhibition at the Palazzo del Fulgor.
The trigger is offered by the magical encounter between one of the most famous "modern Disney" cartoonists working today, Giorgio Cavazzano, and Federico Fellini, which took place on the occasion of the production of the cartoon version of the 1954 film 'La Strada'. The famous Great Disney Parody Mickey Mouse presents La Strada, drawn by Cavazzano and scripted by Massimo Marconi, was published in issue 1866 of "Topolino" in September 1991. Fellini at that time not only gave permission to be portrayed in the story, but also sent his own autograph thank-you drawing to the editors of 'Mickey Mouse'.
The exhibition presents some precious artwork from private collections: a selection of original sketches, paintings and cels used to create the famous Disney shorts from the 1920s to the present day. The gallery also includes the first historical Mickey Mouse short, Steamboat Willie, from 1928. Starting on 16 November, the exhibition will be enriched with anastatic plates from the 1991 comic strip.
On the same day, Maestro Cavazzano will be in Rimini to receive  the "Un felliniano nel mondo" (A Fellinian in the World) award as part of the Amarcort Film Festival, taking place in Rimini  from 14 to 19 November.
