The church was built at the end of 12th century in place of an oratory dedicated to San Marino, the stone-cutter coming from Dalmatia to escape Christian persecutions, as some paintings by Giorgio Picchi testifiy. The painting with 'San Michele Arcangelo who wins the devil' is the work of the local Giovanni Laurentini known as Arrigoni. The remarkable wooden crucifix placed above one of the side altars is attributed to a German sculptor of the early sixteenth century.
The plaster sculptural group in Baroque forms by Antonio Trentanove recalls the passage of Pope Pius VI to Rimini in 1784.
Remarkable the wooden choir dating back to the end of 15th century.
The church is now known by the local population as the Church devoted to Santa Rita from a statue of the saint dated 1925.
