A new project, a meeting point between music, experimental theater and cinema. The theater company Anagoor - Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale - confronts a baroque musical dramaturgy - Les Incas du Pérou - where the themes of love and war blend with those of the dramatic clash of different cultures.
Jean-Philippe Rameau's ballet-héroique Les Indes Galantes was recognized from its debut in Paris in 1735 as a masterpiece and enthusiastically welcomed even by Voltaire for the novelty of the conception. Born from the collaboration with the poet Louis Fuzélier, Les Indes Galantes is a work divided into a prologue and four entrées, each imagined as an autonomous episode with which to re-propose the theme of love and war set in different scenarios - Turkey, Peru, Persia and North America - and with a critical eye towards the oppression perpetrated by Europeans on the peoples of the New World.
The Peruvian episode is at the center of the new production of the Malatesta Music Festival which for the musical part counts on the voices of Elisabeth Breuer, Nicholas Scott, Renato Dolcini, the University Choir of the Ghislieri College of Pavia, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and the direction of Giulio Prandi. A video-work that is accompanied by the performance of live music is a challenge for Anagoor company. The shootings converge in a film made possible thanks to the collaboration of the film production house Kublai Film, with which the Malatesta Music Festival has for years been pursuing an innovative path so far awarded by important prizes received at international art film festivals.
