Rimini presents the 68th edition of the music festival Sagra Musicale Malatestiana, one of the oldest and most prestigious music festivals in Italy.
The festival opens once again the doors to great music with symphonic orchestras, prestigious conductors and soloists, as well as promoting original projects where music is blended with other arts.
The music proposals range from Cimarron by Hans Werner Henze, the opera  that features the 20th Century, which has open the festival on 26th July, up to compositions by Bach performed by Angela Hewitt on the piano in the last appointment of the Sunday Concerts (10th September – 3rd December).
The rich calendar of Sagra Musicale Malatestiana proposes a wide view on the world of music.
The symphony concerts, from 31st August to 15th September, will host important conductors, such as Yuri Temirkanov and Juraj Valčuha, prestigious orchestras, like the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra with famous soloists such as Daniel Hope and Leticia Moreno.
A new theatre project will be staged,  on 23rd September, to celebrate the genius of Claudio Monteverdi on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his birth.
The festival will enrich the calendar of musical events with a series of initiatives dedicated to Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta on the occasion of his 600th birth anniversary (18th August – 30th September).
