At Princess Turandot's court, suitors who fail to solve her riddles are brutally killed. But when a mysterious prince answers correctly, he suddenly holds all the power and a glorious secret.
The opera is broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in London producted by Andrei Serban. The director takes inspiration from the Chinese theatrical tradition to evoke a colorful fantasy tableau from ancient Beijing.
The conductor Antonio Pappano together with Paul Wynne Griffiths conduct the opera.
Puccini's soundtrack is full of musical wonders (with “Nessun dorma”).
With Anna Pirozzi in the title role and Yonghoon Lee and Russell Thomas sharing the role of Calaf.
