Rimini's opera season opens with Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana coupled with Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, a classic diptych for the two masterpieces of Italian verismo, proposed in a new staging presented in an international co-production involving the theatres of Rimini, Modena and Piacenza and the Sofia Opera House. The opera features director Plamen Kartaloff, set designer Giacomo Andrico and a cast of renowned singers including Teresa Romano, Daniela Schillaci, Fabián Veloz and Amadi Lagha, conducted by Aldo Sisillo on the podium of the Orchestra dell'Emilia-Romagna Arturo Toscanini
In preparation for the event, Sunday 6 April, 5 pm at Teatro Galli, an afternoon with Fabio Sartorelli who will introduce 'from the churchyard to the stage: the overwhelming passions of Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci' as part of the 'Parole per la musica' review.
