La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini and Don Carlo by Giuseppe Verdi: two masterpieces on stage in Rimini for the 2023 Opera Season at the Galli Theater

Al quartiere latino, bozzetto di Adolf Hohenstein per La Bohème

La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini and Don Carlo by Giuseppe Verdi are the two masterpieces of musical theater that will give life to the 2023 Opera Season of the Galli Theater.

La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini is inspired by the novel by Henry Murger and is the first title of a program which will then continue in the autumn with the Verdi's opera 'Don Carlo'.
It will be on stage Friday 31 March - 8pm - and Sunday 2 April – 3.30pm.
For La Bohème, direction and scenic design are by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti, who brings the story of fragile Mimì to the stage of the Galli Theater. A story of a love that overwhelms her and Rodolfo, and of the disillusioned dreams of the young and dishevelled artists who surround them.
On the podium of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra Maestro Nicola Paszkowski with the Municipal Theater Choir of Piacenza directed by Corrado Casati.
The protagonists of the opera are the soprano Juliana Grigoryan (Mimì), the tenor Alessandro Scotto di Luzio (Rodolfo), the soprano Alessia Pintossi (Musetta) and the baritone Christian Federici (Marcello). The cast is completed by Clemente Antonio Daliotti, Andrea Vittorio De Campo, Fabio Baruzzi, Graziano Della Valle and Ivan Merlo.
Vincent Longuemare for the lights, David Loom for the videos and Manuela Monti for the costumes.
The staging was created as a production by the Alighieri Theater in co-production with the Galli Theater in Rimini.

Don Carlo arrives in Rimini on Friday 24 November at 8.00pm and on Sunday 26 November at 3,30pm. It is one of the most demanding titles in Verdi's catalog both for the richness of the score and for the sumptuousness required for the staging of an opera derived from the tragedy that Friedrich Schiller wrote inspired by historical events that occurred in Spain in the mid Five hundred.
The clash between an oppressive political system and the aspiration for individual freedom such as the contrast between father and son, attracted Verdi to compose a large-scale work presented for the first time in 1867 in Paris.
The vocal cast is composed by the bass Ramaz Chikviladze (Philip II, King of Spain), the tenor Matteo Lippi (Don Carlo, Infante of Spain), the soprano Maria Teresa Leva (Elizabeth of Valois), the baritone Hae Kang ( Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa) The mezzo-soprano Shay Bloch (The Princess Eboli) and the bass Strahinja Djokic (The Grand Inquisitor).
On the podium of the Emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini Orchestra and the Modena Opera Choir the Maestro Jordi Bernàcer.
The direction is signed by Joseph Franconi Lee with the sets and costumes designed by Alessandro Ciammarughi who wanted to be inspired by the historic show created at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome by the great Luchino Visconti.
The staging of Don Carlo comes from a co-production involving the Teatro Comunale of Modena, the Theater of Piacenza, the Theaters of Reggio Emilia and the Galli Theater of Rimini.
