Al Meni, Massimo Bottura's Circus 8 and ½ opens its doors, on 7 and 8 August, in the square of dreams of the new Fellini Museum

On 7 and 8 August the heart of the city hosts the circus market of flavors for a special edition that brings for the first time starred show cooking, street food, markets dedicated to excellent local products, artisans' workshops, meetings and workshops curated by Slow Food and Tempidirecupero in the outdoor spaces where the museum dedicated to Fellini will rise.

Massimo Bottura, together with 16 cooking talents, will be the protagonist of the two open kitchens in circus 8 and ½ in Piazza Malatesta and in the Francesca da Rimini arena, while the farmers 'and artisans' market will occupy Piazza Cavour.

The event will be accessible only for those who have the green pass.

On 7 and 8 August "Al Meni" brings his "circus of dreams and flavors" for the first time to the places in the historic center where Fellini gave birth to the circus of the film 'I Clowns'. Precisely in the spaces where he had imagined it, in the the square of dreams where the museum dedicated to famous director will rise. The event, conceived by Massimo Bottura and organized by the Municipality of Rimini, together with the passion and knowledge of the Chef to Chef Emilia Romagna Cuochi Association, Slow Food Emilia Romagna and the Wine and Flavors Route of Rimini Hills.

This is the formula that, over the years, has made the fortune of Al Mèni (in the Romagna dialect, 'le mani'/ 'the hands', from the title of a poem by Tonino Guerra), a food and wine event that celebrates the roots, cuisine and great products of Emilia Romagna, in the spontaneous atmosphere of a street party, which has become a real 'must 'of the summer in Rimini.

The 'hands' will be the protagonists of this party. Those of the chefs who will prepare street food in Piazza Malatesta and those of the farmers and producers of excellent foods of the Via Emilia that can be tasted and purchased in the Al Meni market in Piazza Cavour, those of the fishermen of Rimini and those of the manufacturers gathered in the Matryoshka laboratory. And above all those of the 16 exceptional chefs, called to perform with their showcooking in two large open kitchens: one in front of the Francesca da Rimini arena, the other in the "circus 8 and ½” which will rise in the space that runs next to the Galli Theater.

Opening Cerimony: on Saturday 7 August at 6.30 pm Massimo Bottura lights up the magic of Al Meni's circus of flavors.

> The chefs of the eighth edition of Al Meni

The protagonists of this edition, in the two open kitchens in Piazza Malatesta, are the talents who are growing in the Francescana group: a lot of space will be given to some of the guys who lead the kitchens of several Massimo Bottura's restaurants. Here their names:.
Jessica Rosval,Taka (Takahiko Kondo), Allen Huynh e Matteo Zonarelli,  Bernardo Paladini,  Riccardo Forapani, Davide Di Fabio, Celine Pham, Clio and Anne, Simone Salvin, Gian Paolo Raschi,  Silver Succi, Mattia Borroni, Athos Migliari, Giovanna Guidetti, Massimiliano Poggi, Riccardo Agostini.

> The starred Street Food

Even the street food of excellence has its spaces in Al Meni, to represent the various specialties of "street food": from piada to gourmet sandwiches, from focaccia to tigelle, to skewers of fish. What they have in common is the quality guaranteed by the excellences of the territory both of the products and of the hands that make the 'strolling' proposals. Starting with chefs like Silver Succi, patron of the Quartopiano restaurant to Cuori Ebbri, the “collective” made up of all Rimini experiences: “Da Lucio - Trattoria”, “Nécessaire - Cocktail bistrot” and “Fermènta Enoteca”, engaged in the creation of Gin-based preparations. The queen of Romagna is unmissable. The piada by the expert hands of Lella, an institution for piada lovers. A space dedicated to Amarcord, the craft brewery that uses Italian barley malt and Rimini "know how" is a must.

For the first year, the new laboratory-shop in Santarcangelo di Romagna, "Via Saffi 32", regional champion of the Gambero Rosso 2022 Street Food Guide, will participate in Al Mèni. Do not miss the "mythical" ‘Bignè di Santarcangelo’ proposed by the chef and pastry chef Andrea Marconi. The Augusta team will be present with its own outdoor space. Rimini fishermen will also be protagonists in Piazza Cavour with their dishes based on fried fish, shrimp and squid skewers, sardines, radicchio, onion and the famous piada labelled 'Rimini for all' (Rimini per tutti).

> The protagonists of Piazza Cavour: the farmers' market, Slow Food meetings and workshops and the Matrioska labstore

Piazza Cavour will also be the setting for a unique and extraordinary journey among the Emilia-Romagna gastronomic excellences and among products that are authentic gems of the richest territory in Europe for PDO and PGI. At the Al Meni market we will meet producers of Parmigiano Reggiano, coppa and Piacenza cured meats, together with producers of honey, more precious than ever, as well as fruit and vegetables. And again the innovative fermenters of black garlic, the producers of Romagna chilli and the ancient grains of Valmarecchia. A prominent space is dedicated to the producers of the Slow Food Presidia. A unique opportunity, which is now an annual event, to enrich oneself through cultural exchange with producers and the purchase of their extraordinary products. The selection is curated by CheftoChef Emiliaromagnacuochi, in collaboration with Slow Food Emila-Romagna. To discover the products and producers of this special market, Slow Food personal shoppers accompany in the discovery of gastronomic excellences and in particular the Slow Food Presidia.

Next to the Al Meni market there some space is dedicated to the traveling labstore for crafts, design and good ideas. A multifaceted exhibition space of art and research, distinguished by the FATTO A MANO brand (made by hand). The Matrioska manufacturers bring illustrations, ceramics, clothing, accessories, furnishings to Al Mèni: everything that combines innovation, craftsmanship and love for doing.
